Nissan released August 2018 sales numbers for the LEAF and reported total units sold of 1315 compared to August 2017 sales of 1154. Overall year to date Nissan has sold 9123 units.
How I See It
With the new design, increased performance, and 150 EPA mile range, Nissan is sure to see more consumers attracted to the LEAF that may not have considered an electric vehicle in the past. That being said, Nissan needs to step up their game when it comes to battery technology. Nissan is expected to release a 60 kWh version of the LEAF with thermal battery management for 2019, but after releasing 2019 pricing, we still do not have an indication when it will be released other than “in the future”.
